Max D. Seaton Sr., 80, of 600 Main Street in Hills, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at University of Iowa Hospitals following a lengthy illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, Iowa, with Reverend Rich Adam officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Riverside. Memorials may be directed to the Max D. Seaton Memorial Fund.

Max was born in Riverside in 1924, the son of Icle & Clare (Kelley) Seaton. He married Leta M. Glaspey in 1947 in Johnson County. Max was owner of Speidel’s Clothing Store in Iowa City, working there for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside and Lone Tree American Legion Post #457. Max served in the United States Navy during WWII.

Max is survived by his wife Leta; daughter Betty Hellwig (Rick) of Iowa City, Todd Seaton (Jackie) of Riverside, Jim Seaton of Dubuque, Tom Seaton of Hills and Max D. Seaton Jr. (Nancy Berry) of Solon; grandchildren, Sean Seaton(Nancy), Nathan Hellwig (Debbie), Phillip Hellwig, Jacob Seaton, Katie Seaton, Alison Seaton & Anna Seaton; great grandchildren, Patrick Seaton & Madelyn Hellwig; sisters, Pat Crist (Keith) of Iowa City, Betty Nerad of Iowa City, Samantha Singleton (Jim) of Monticello, Illinois and Colleen Yoder (Cecil) of Sun City, Arizona; sister in law, Betty Letts of Coralville and many nephews & nieces.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; his mother & father in law, Pat & Allie Glaspey;
a grandson, Zachery Seaton; a daughter in law, Jolene Wombacher Seaton; brothers and sisters in law, Omer Letts, Marold “Timer” Glaspey, Bill Seaton & his wife Jenny, Bob Seaton and Norma Mathes & her husband Jack.
