Marjorie A. Johns, 76, of Coralville died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction following an extended illness.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 18, 2005 at 10AM at St. Wenceslaus Church with Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Coralville. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 6pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill, Coralville, where a Vigil Service will be held at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Catholic Community Foundation.
Marjorie was born August 14, 1929 in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Arnold and Helen Kangley Krause. She married Robert H. Johns, Sr., on February 8, 1948 in Marshalltown. He died on May 11, 1993.
Marjorie and her husband moved to Coralville in 1987 from West Union, Iowa, where
she had been the office manager for Schwan’s. From 1987 until her retirement in 2000
she was employed by Kum and Go.
Marjorie was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and had attended the Newman Catholic Center. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved to travel.
Marjorie was a voracious reader who liked to knit, sew, cook and bake for the grandchildren she so adored.
Marjorie is survived by her four children;
Arnette (Dr. Forrest) Scandrett of Solon and their children Colette, Brad and Kelby; Dr.Nick (Dr. Sue) Johns of East Haddam, Connecticut and their children Stacey, Jeremy, Kesha, Landon, Kenzey, Jim and Sarah; Shelley Petsche and her son Christopher; Dr. Polly (Lee) Iben and their children Alex, Niko, Christian and Xavian; great grandchildren, Katrina, Keaton, Sydney, Avery, Kendra, Audrey, Tristan and Jacob; her brother Bill (Nancy) Krause of West Des Moines and Mary Ellen (Leon) Doughty of Eldora, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one granddaughter
Andrea Petsche.
