Robert J. Madden, 82, formerly of 4603 F Avenue NE, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Silver Pines Retirement Community in Cedar Rapids.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 10:00am at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville, Iowa.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorial donations may be directed to the Tradewinds Unit at Silver Pines Retirement Community, 136 36th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, 52404.

Robert was born February 16, 1923 in Tiffin, Iowa, the son of Robert & Jessie (Sherman) Madden.
He graduated from high school in Tiffin and served in the United States Air Force during WWII.
He married Mary A. Lantz December 26, 1942 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City.
Robert was a meat inspector for the USDA – working for many years at Wilson Foods and Amana.

He was a member of VFW Post #788, American Legion Post #5 and a former member of the Eagle’s Lodge, all in Cedar Rapids. Bob enjoyed fishing from a favorite spot on the Mississippi at Prairie du Chien.

Survivors include his son, Jim Madden & his wife Becky of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Tiffany Kelley, Debbie Montagne & her husband Jason, Brett Madden & his wife Becky, B.J. Greer, great-grandchildren, Sydney, Katie, Hannah & Hunter; and sister, Dolores Madden of Tiffin.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary in 1995.
