Scott Knebel, 31, of North Liberty died Sunday, December 4, 2005 of an accidental gunshot wound received while hunting.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 11am at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City with the Rev Jason Crossen officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held at the St. Joseph Church Parish Hall in Hills following the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Scott’s memory with Hills Bank and Trust Co.

Scott was born December 29, 1973 in Iowa City, the son of James and Mary Wright Knebel. He married Tanya Hegland on June 26, 2004 in Iowa City.

Scott had been employed by Mediacom as a cable technician for the past year and a half. Prior to that, Scott had done concrete flatwork and lawn care for many years.

Scott loved nature and being outdoors. He liked to fish and hunt, and go dirt biking and four wheeling.

Scott is survived by his wife Tanya of North Liberty;
His son, Devon and daughter, Marisa, both of West Branch;
His step-daughter, Autumn Springer of North Liberty;
His father, James Knebel and his friend, Mary Young of Homestead;
His sister, Marcy Knebel and her husband, Randy Garr of Homestead;
Two nephews, Kody and Jaxson
His mother-in-law, Sherry McDannald of North Liberty.
His grandmothers, Marilyn Knebel of Hills and Dottie Wright of McAllen,Texas;
Nieces and Nephews
Scott was preceded in death by his mother and grandfathers, Henry Knebel and William Wright.
