Eudenia E. Gruwell 1916-2005

Eudenia E. Gruwell, 89, of Iowa City, passed away on November 22, 2005 at Bickford Cottage in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held11:00a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Lensing Funeral Service-605 Kirkwood Ave. with Pastor Jim Davis officiating
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 28, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lensing’s. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amenity Hospice.

Eudenia was born on February 27, 1916 in Johnson County to John and Blanche (Walters) Eggenburg. On May 17, 1939 she married Edward K. Gruwell at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Eudenia worked for 23 years in the housekeeping department for the University of Iowa. She loved to play cards and enjoyed dancing at the Eagles Club. Eudenia was a forty year member of the Eagles Auxillary.

Eudenia is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, one son Edward Jr. (Mary) of Riverview, Florida; one daughter Judith Kadera of Middleton, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Scott Kadera, Mark (Deborah) Gruwell, Dawn (Willis) Reed, Todd Gruwell, Craig (Lori) Gruwell and Kevin (Cheryl) Kadera; six great-grandchildren, Brittany and Seth Reed, Melissa and Kaili, Kylir and Christian Gruwell; one brother-in-law, James Hall, one sister-in-law, Nora Eggenburg and many nieces and nephews.

Eudenia was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Thomas Novak, Amenity Hospice and all the staff at Bickford Cottage.
