Marvin J. Ham, 84, of Coralville died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the Solon Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 1:30pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill, Coralville with the Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7pm Tuesday or after noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Merrick Ham Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Solon Dollars for Scholars.

Marvin was born September 14, 1921 in Solon, the son of James and Margaret Zenishek Ham. He was a graduate of Solon High School. On February 7, 1945 he married Betty Zajicek at St. Mary’s Church in Solon.

Marvin was a farmer for over thirty years east of Solon. In 1968 he and his family moved to Coralville, where he was employed by the Iowa City Community School District as a custodian for twenty three years.

Marvin is survived by his wife Betty of Solon; four children, Phyllis (Ronald) Meade and Tom (Sharon) Meade, both of Iowa City, Ron Ham of Coralville and Bonnie (Rick) Noel of Lone Tree; one son-in-law Gary Haman of Iowa City; twelve grandchildren, Chad (Alexandra), Laurie (Doug), Nicki, Michelle (Gabe), Lisa (Stev), Don, Michelle, Cari (Ben), Ashley, R.J., Jennifer (Scott) and Brian; eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Patricia Ham and one daughter-in-law Dawn Ham, one granddaughter Merrick Ham, and three brothers George, Leo and Frankie.
