Donald Robert Breese, 97, died Sunday November 20, 2005 at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center following a short illness.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 10:30am at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service with the Rev. Jerry Stevenson officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Welsh Congregational Church.

Don was born on September 18, 1908, the son of Robert and Jenny Campbell Breese. Don married Iola M. Bane on June 6, 1936. She died on November 22, 1982. On December 23, 1984 he married Lorraine Gordon. She died on July 3, 2000.

Don founded Breese Plumbing Co. in 1933, and was the president of the company for seventy years. He retired at the age of 90.

Don was an active member of the Welsh Congregational Church. His ancestors attended the old country Church over the years and were pioneers in Johnson County.

Don enjoyed music and played the piano by ear. He always remembered the tunes from years gone by. He often volunteered as a piano player at the Senior Center. Don also
enjoyed his work and had been raised with a strong work ethic.

Don his survived by his two daughters, Regina (Jean) Meer and her husband Gene of Bettendorf and Leanna Breese and her husband, Carl (Alec) Vance of Kenwood, California; one son, Donald Allen (Al) Breese and his wife Marie Mineart Breese of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Andrew (Drew) Breese and Jamie Logan; two great
Grandchildren, Amy Mason and Cory Logan; three great great grandchildren; his sister,
Edith Yedlik of Hiawatha, Iowa; three sister-in-laws, Marlys Breese, Naomi Bane and Margaret Bane; seven step-children, Dennis, David, Todd, Brett and Jim Gordon, Anita Puffer and Sue Englebrecht; sister-in-law Marilyn Marner and her husband Don of Iowa City.

Don was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Edwin, sister-in-law Nita Breese and brother-in-law Frank Yedlik.
