Louis “Justin” Burns, 85, formerly of 4639 Sharon Center Road died, Monday, October 24, 2005 at Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church
in Iowa City with Reverend Rich Adam officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a parish vigil & rosary will be held at 8:00 pm. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City with military graveside rites provided by the Solon American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Louis “Justin” Burns Memorial Fund.

Louis Justin Burns was born July 25, 1920 in Johnson County, the son of William P. and Mary Ellen (Donohoe) Burns. He married Rose Mary Kasper on September 3, 1946 in Iowa City. He worked for Montgomery Elevator & Escalator Co. as an installer for 28 years, retiring in 1985.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and a member of the China Burma India Veterans Association, a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Marquette Council #842 and the Solon American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Rose Mary; by his children; Stuart Burns & his wife Carol of Davenport, Janet Johnson of Snellville, GA, Stan Burns & his wife Shellie of Iowa City, Steve Burns of Lone Tree, Julie Neuzil & her husband Bill of Tiffin, Brian Burns & his companion Nancy Blake of Iowa City, Marlene Burns & her companion Bob Peters of Mound, MN; grandchildren, Renee Ash & her husband Brian, Teresa Burns & her husband Scott Dimphl, Molly Burns, Andrew Burns, Cody Burns, Sarah Burns, Ethan Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Sarah Burns, Katie Neuzil, Laura Neuzil, Jill Sutherland & her husband Adam & Rachel Peters; two brothers, Thomas Burns and his wife Rita of Oxford, Iowa. and Edwin “Eddie” Burns & his wife Marian of Fresno, CA; two sisters; Anna “Kathryn” Burns of Iowa City, and by Eileen Leland and her husband Jim of Solon, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patsy Dikitolia and one grandson, Lucas Johnson.
