Annabelle (Winegarden) Bowman, 86, of Iowa City died Sunday October 23, 2005 at her home of multiple myeloma.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday October 26, 2005 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City. Burial will be at Sorden Cemetery in Webster, IA. Chaplain Mary Kay Kusner will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 12:30-1:30 pm on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, IA 52240.

Annabelle was born on August 6, 1919 in Keokuk County, IA to Clarence Virgil and Anna Mae (Schilling) Winegarden. She grew up near Webster, IA and graduated from Webster High School. Annabelle married Burdette Bowman on December 27, 1937 in Webster, IA. She was a past member of the Webster Methodist Church where she played the organ for 17 years. Annabelle moved to Iowa City in 1979.

She enjoyed Iowa farm life, music and cooking from scratch. She also loved reading, crossword puzzles, travel and her family and friends.

She is survived by her four sons: Robert Bowman of Iowa City, Wayne Bowman (Bonnie Love) of Iowa City, John Bowman (Myra) of Britt, IA, William Bowman (Chris) Granger, IA, four grandchildren: Ryan (Shannon), Jill, Abigail, Ashley, one sister-in-law Arlene Winegarden of Sigourney, IA and 15 nieces and nephews.

Annabelle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Burdette, four brothers: Vernon and Virgil Winegarden and infant brothers Elroy and Dale.
