Thelma R. Theobald, 92, formerly of Iowa City died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Augustana Care Center in Hopkins, Minnesota of pneumonia.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at 10am at St. Patrick’s Church with the Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:30 to 6:30pm Tuesday at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church.

Thelma was born November 7, 1912 in Lone Tree, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary Schaapveld Zilver. Thelma lived there until 1927, then moved to Iowa City, where she graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1930. She attended the University of Iowa and Iowa City Business College and on June 14, 1934 married William Theobald
in Iowa City.

Thelma had been employed by Economy/ Bankers Advertising for 33 years until she retired in 1980. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary Guild and various other organizations. Thelma was also an avid Hawkeye fan.

Thelma is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (George) Wasson of Bloomington, Minnesota and Mary Lou (David) Brown of Wayzata, Minnesota; four grandchildren,
Lisa (Leo) Holzer, Teri (Chuck) Beattie, Bill Wasson and Bob (Deb) Wasson; eight great grandchildren,
Danielle, Marcus, Jesse, Michael Mallory, Matthew, Garrett and Holly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
