Janice Eileen Hennessey, 80, of Iowa City, IA, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 peacefully in her sleep. Per her wishes no services will be held.

Janice was born on February 12, 1944 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Kenneth W. Pruess and Lydia Bontrager. She was united in marriage to Michael Kozora whom she had two daughters with, and later divorced, he preceded her in death in 2015. Janice was a cook for The University of Iowa for over 24 years, working at the Childrens Hospital and lastly Burger Hall before retiring in 2001. Like most native Iowa City residents she loved the Hawkeyes. Janice was united in marriage to Richard Hennessey who passed away in 1995.

Janice is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Speirs of Iowa City and Lisa (Steve) Klein of Kirkland, IL; four grandchildren, Michael Quinlan, Lydia Speirs, Hollyann Klein and Zachary Klein, and one brother, Larry (Gloria) Pruess of Hennepin, IL.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Richard Hennessey.
