Gerald W. “Jerry” Seiffert, 82, of 350 Dublin Drive in Iowa City, died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Crestview Nursing & Rehab Center in West Branch following complications of a stroke.

Jerry chose to be cremated. A memorial celebration will be held Sunday, October 23rd at 2:00 pm at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Memorials may be directed, in Jerry’s name, to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or Mercy Hospital Foundation.

Survivors include Jane Elizabeth Seiffert, his wife of 36 years and his four children, Kathleen Jane O’Connor Riddle (Fred), Jane Ann Seiffert Rowat (Lynn), all of Iowa City, James C. Seiffert (Margaret) of Louisville, Kentucky and John Robert Seiffert of Branson, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kent Franklin Riddle (Camaren), Erin Kathleen Riddle, Jamie Seiffert Rowat, Emily Jane Rowat, Meredith Jennings Seiffert, Claire Kramer Seiffert and Jameson Mansfield Seiffert; one great grandson, Connor William Riddle; a sister, Phyllis Gibney of Davenport, Iowa and a brother in law, Robert Crum of Iowa City.

Gerald was born February 15, 1923 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Walter & Clara (Meier) Seiffert. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1941 and the State University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering in 1947. He married Betty Jane Crum in Iowa City in 1948 whom passed away on September 9, 1967. On July 12, 1969, he married Jane E. O’Connor in Iowa City.

Jerry worked with Standard Oil Company from 1947 – 1956. He owned and operated Campus Record Shop in Iowa City from 1956 – 1973. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City, the University of Iowa “I” Club, Masonic Lodge #6 and had served in the United States Navy.
