Jessie was born on January 3, 1987, in Iowa City IA, the daughter of Jeffrey and Pamela (Lynk) Metz. She attended school in Iowa City, later moving to Michigan and more recently to Oklahoma. She married Brandon Newman on July 9, 2016.

Jessie was a kind, generous person whose huge, infectious smile lit up any room she was in. She was always thinking of others and often put the needs of others before her own. Jessie's dogs Mia, Izzy, Livvy, and cat, Ross were her pride and joy and were lucky to experience her outpouring of love and comfort. Her passion and love for animal welfare could not be surpassed. Jessie loved the outdoors and was an avid geocacher, garnering millions of views on social media regarding her searches. She also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and a good true crime mystery.

Jessie is survived by her husband, Brandon Newman of Lawton, OK; her parents, Jeffrey and Pamela Metz, of Iowa City; sister, Anna (Shawn) Rhinehart and their kids, Gayle and Mae of North Liberty; brother, Kelly (Becca) Metz and their kids, Anthony, Penelope, and Avery of Des Moines; grandmother, Avellino Lynk of Coralville, IA, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Lyle and Barbara Metz, Frank Wilson, Richard Lynk, and her uncles, Douglas Lynk and Duane Metz.
