Gary Jacobs, 82, of North Liberty, passed away on August 6, 2023 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Gary was born on May 5, 1941 in Iowa City to Clarence and Bernice (DeVault) Jacobs. After graduating from City High in 1959, he served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964. Following discharge, Gary worked at McDonell Douglas Aircraft for several years before becoming a maintenance supervisor at the University of Iowa for almost 30 years.

In 1971, Gary married Judy McKean in Belleville, Illinois. The couple enjoyed many years together traveling and attending Hawkeye bowl games around the country. Gary also spent time fishing, collecting tractors and was a lifetime Eagles member. He was a great handyman and never met a person he didn’t like.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Judy; brother, Paul (Shirley) Jacobs and their daughter, Kristin (Adam) Ferrell and their children: Emma and Dylan; great friends: Patrick and Michelle Lampkin and their two boys: Thomas and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per Gary’s request, no services will be held at this time. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Heart and Vascular Center or to the University of Iowa Urology Department.
