Joy B. (Krabacher) Harrington passed away July 18th, 2023 from pulmonary fibrosis at the University of Iowa Hospital. She had been a resident of the Iowa City/ Cedar Rapids area her entire life.

Joy was born in Cedar Rapids March 4,1950 to Barney and Betty Krabacher and was the oldest of their 3 children Joy, Joesph, and Jeffery. Joy was born with the unrelenting spirit to be a teacher. She attained a master's degree in education from the University of Iowa. Joy taught everywhere from local Iowa City elementary schools and Willowwind. She handled programs at the University of Iowa and tutored dozens of children and adults in English as a second language programs. Joy's passion for teaching touched the hearts and lives of thousands of people, who will forever remember her for her love and warmth.

Joy never seemed to stop smiling, and loved to laugh. She loved gambling and exploring different casinos. She loved her flower garden and seemed to always find a way to bring a glow of warmth to her home. Her passion for her garden would only be topped by her love of books, as she filled the lower level of her home with childrens' books of all varieties, and transformed it into her own personal library. When she wasn't in her garden, watching her favorite judge Judy, or tutoring children, Joy loved spending time with her family. She and Charlie loved their adventures together, seeing her brothers and sister Susie, and her son Rigel and grandson Logan.

Joy is preceded in death by her mother and father Barney and Betty Krabacher, as well as her younger brother Jeff Krabacher. Her presence will forever be missed by her brother Joe Krabacher and sister-in-law Susie Krabacher, as well as her son Rigel Harrington, and grandson Logan Harrington, and long time companion Charlie Fowler.

Joy was a true believer in Jesus, and did her best to follow his teachings. She was always quick to forgive, and never held grudges, everywhere she went she brought with her the feeling of home and will forever be a flower child.

We love you Mom
