Thorsten J. “Jack” Ahlberg, 84, of 350 Dublin Drive died Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at his home.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday at 11am at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.

Jack was born June 28, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Thorsten and Mabel Frances (Ruecker) Ahlberg. On January 29, 1945 he was united in marriage to Eileen Barrett in Evanston, Illinois.

Jack was a graduate of Northwestern University. During World War II Jack served as Lt. (jg) in the US Navy. He participated in the European Theatre and the D- Day invasion at Normandy.

He and his wife had resided in Chicago and Manhasset, Long Island, New York before moving to Iowa City in 2003.

Jack is survived by his wife Eileen; one son, James T. (Pamela) Ahlberg of Lake Mohawk, New Jersey and their children Peter and Meredith; two daughters,
Jeanne F. (Bruce) Korda of Annandale, Virginia and children Pamela Korda and Ellen Vandaveer, Jan L. Ahlberg of Iowa City and her children Robin and Karen Dull; one sister, Jane A. Peters of Skokie, Illinois; one brother, F. James (Suzanne) Ahlberg of McLean, Virginia.
