Ralph J. Miller, 83 of 5070 Morse Road passed a way peacefully on his farm September 18, 2005.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday September 22, 2005 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael T. Phillips officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral Service-605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City. The National Catholic Society of Foresters will recite a rosary at 4pm and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30pm. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous of Iowa, American Diabetes Association or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

Ralph was born January 4, 1922 the son of Frank and Margaret Miller. He graduated from City High in 1939. On December 29, 1942 he married Rebecca Rohret at St. Peters Church in Cosgrove. In his youth he enjoyed playing in bands for dances. He was a life long farmer with a love for raising cattle and grain. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church and Catholic Order of Forrester. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ralph enjoyed cheering for the Cubs and the Hawkeye’s and playing cards. He also enjoyed winters in Arizona with his son Terry and his wife Janet, and with his daughter Laurie and Mike and granddaughter, Maggie in Ojai, California.

He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca Miller, his six children, William and his wife Jan Miller of Iowa City, Judy and her husband Gary Suchomel of West Branch, IA, Terry and his wife Janet Miller of Scottsdale, AZ, Connie and her husband Mike Meis of Naperville, IL, Debbie and her husband Robert Schlegel of Washington, IA and Laurie and her husband Mike Fitzgerald of Ojai, CA. He is survived by his fourteen grandchildren: Trish and Kurt Rummelhart of Iowa City, Shelly Miller of Coralville, Jennifer and Kyle Stahle of Solon, Ryan and Debbie Suchomel of Solon, Laura Suchomel and her fiancé Joe Rannfeldt of Marion, Scott Suchomel of Tipton, Drs. Greg Meis and his wife Sophia of Columbus, OH, Maggie Fitzgerald of Ojai, CA, Rebecca Meis of West Des Moines, Peter Meis of Columbus, OH, Elizabeth Schlegel, Alex Schlegel of Washington, IA, Tate and Troy Miller of Scottsdale, AZ; his seven great grandchildren: Brandon and Matthew Rummelhart, Jack, Joe and Sean Stahle, Makayla and Emilee Suchomel. Ralph is also survived by one brother, Paul Miller and his wife Dorothy of Iowa City.
His wife and family will remember Ralph for his great sense of humor and his love of life and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
