Funeral services for John P. Maher, 75, West Liberty, were held at St. Bridget's church, Nolan Settlement, Nov. 22, with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery. Mr. Maher died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Nov. 19.

The son of Hugh and Ellen Peters Maher, he was born in Graham township, Johnson county and attended St. Ambrose academy. He was married to Corrien Whetsine in Fort Madison, Oct. 3, 1933. He was a farmer most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Hugh, West Branch, 2 daughters, Karen Maher, Detroit, Mich., and Kay Maher, Madison, Wis., 5 grandchildren and a sister, Mary Maher, Iowa City. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
