Michael Post, 70, of Iowa City, Iowa passed away on November 30, 2022 at Crestview Specialty Care in West Branch, Iowa.

Michael Gregory was born on September 26, 1952 in New Milford, Connecticut to Michael St. Anthony Post and Mary Compton Putnam. He was a student at Palfrey Street High School before starting his career as an artist.

Michael met John Bollenbacher in 1978 while residing in Berkely, California and the two spent 41 memorable years together. Michael and John lived in California, Vermont, and Minnesota until settling in Iowa City, where the couple got married on June 21, 2009.

Michael was a talented artist, a student of Tibetan Buddhism, and was an avid collector of books and old furniture. He was a gregarious and generous visitor to local shops, including the Iowa City Farmers Market, The Coop, the Haunted Bookshop, Beadology, and Prairie Lights.

He is survived by his mother, three siblings Barbara, Peter and Roger Post, and two step-siblings Sarah and Hugh Chatfield.

Michael was preceded in death by his husband John in 2019.

Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no public services will be held.
