Brian Benest, 45, of North Liberty passed away on September 2, 2022 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
In honor of Brian’s life, a memorial gathering for friends and family will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3000 12th Ave, Coralville, Iowa, where a memorial service will begin at 6:00 PM.
Brian Matthew was born on November 4, 1976 in Marion, Iowa to Mark Benest and Pamela Chase. He grew up in Marion, graduating from Marion High School before attending Kirkwood Community College. He went on to attend The University of Northern Iowa where he earned a bachelors degree in business. It was there Brian met his soulmate, Jessilyn Heckart. The couple were married on July 26, 2003 in Bettendorf, Iowa, and together had three children who were the center of his whole world. Brian and Jessi lived in Milwaukee, WI, and Tiffin, IA, but have lived in North Liberty for the majority of their married life while raising their children.
Brian enjoyed his career in financial services since he began his career 20 years ago. He worked for Wells Fargo for the majority of his career prior to joining GreenState Wealth Management and LPL Financial in 2021, where he worked as a Financial Advisor at the time of his death.
Anyone who knew Brian knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything and more. In life, his generosity knew no bounds and was freely given therefore, Brian knew no stranger.
Brian enjoyed every moment spent with his children, whether it was coaching their softball and baseball teams or just taking them to school or volleyball practice. He especially cherished their family trips to Disney World and Pensacola Beach which were full of love and laughter.
He leaves behind his best friend and wife Jessilyn Benest, and their three children Finn Michael (17), Lucille Caroline (12), and Sally Rose (6), all of North Liberty, IA; brother Scott Benest of Marion, IA; step-sister Sue (Steve) Kirk; step-brother Dave (Carla) Mulneaux; mother and father in law Michael and Sara Heckart of Coralville, IA; two brothers-in-law Drew (Elizabeth) Heckart of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jay (Kelly) Heckart of Coralville, IA, and a niece Cecilia Jane.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, brother Willie, step-mother Marlene Benest, and his grandparents.
His love of others above himself will be treasured and missed by all who knew him especially his family.
