Marilyn Jean Jennings, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on September 2, 2022 at Atrium Village Care Center, in Hills, Iowa.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 7th, from 10:30 until noon at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Funeral services will begin at noon at Lensing’s. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family suggests memorials to Atrium Village.

Marilyn was born on May 3, 1933 in Iowa City, the daughter of William and Hazel (Killen) Zinkula. Marilyn grew up in Iowa City and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1951. On September 8, 1951, she wed Charles (Charlie) Jennings at First Presbyterian Church, “Old Brick”, in Iowa City. Marilyn and Charlie were just 6 days short of celebrating their 71st wedding anniversary.

Marilyn’s career in accounting and bookkeeping included working at First National Bank, ACT, and the University of Iowa Memorial Union business office. Marilyn’s most important job, however, was being a stay-at-home mother to raise her 4 children.

Marilyn enjoyed outdoor work, attending Iowa basketball games with Charlie, and crafts. During her later years, Marilyn enjoyed playing dominoes and listening to music. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband Charles, her children, Vicki (Bob) Reynolds of Iowa City, Iowa and children Kristin (Chris) Ulrich, Kyle (Marietta) Reynolds, Ryan (Jamie) Reynolds, Doug (Peggy) Jennings of Tampa, Florida and children Jason (Melissa) Jennings, Kiara (Reed) Festing-Smith, Ian (Alexis) Jennings, and Jody Freel and daughter Rachel Freel. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren; Lauren, Carson, and Allie Mains, Arlow and Oakley Reynolds, Elizabeth, Colton, Kayleigh, and Norah Jennings, Landon Festing-Smith, Sophia Jennings, Lilly and Evie Mathes, and several nieces and nephews.

She will be welcomed home by Jesus, her son, Allan, parents, William and Hazel Zinkula, sisters, Mercedes and Audrey, granddaughter Crissy Miller, and great grandchildren Nicholas Mains and Lilliana Jennings.
