Richard C. “Dick” Miller, 79, of Iowa City died Friday August 12, 2005 at Windmill Manor, Coralville.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday August 16, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City with officiants Rev. Kenneth Kuntz and Msgr. Francis Henricksen. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Military Rites provided by the Coralville American Legion Walter Johnson Post #721. Friends may call from 4 to 8:00pm Monday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30pm and a Parish Vigil Service led by Sister Agnes Giblin will be held at 7:30pm. Memorials may be directed in his name to Iowa City Hospice 1025 Wade St, Iowa City, IA 52240 or St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 220 E. Jefferson St, Iowa City, 52245.

Dick was born April 24, 1926 in Atalissa, Iowa, the son of Verl and Neta (Shaw) Miller. Dick served in the United States Navy during WWII. Dick moved to Iowa City in 1946 where he married Hazel J. Meyers on July 12, 1948.

Dick was the manager of Meyers Barber Shop in downtown Iowa City for 45 years. He was a personable gentleman who offered a professional service to all his customers..

Richard is survived by his wife Hazel; a son Thomas Allen (Karen) of Wildwood, MO; a daughter Janice Gayle Fabry (Jeffrey) of Brandon, FL; a brother Verl (Dorothy) of Long Beach, CA; a sister Shirley Liming (AJ) of Springfield, OH, four grandchildren; Brittany Ann Fabry, Matthew Richard Fabry, Austin Taylor Miller, Erik Christopher Miller.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Vern Dale Miller.
