Gary Lynn Zeman, 68, passed peacefully Friday, July 29, 2022 at Mercy Iowa City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Thursday, August 4, 2022 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in West Branch with Father Gary Beckman officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 PM to 7 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where the rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM. A luncheon at the church will follow the burial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Gary was born September 6, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Leon and Sharlene (Kubik) Zeman. He was a graduate of Belle Plaine High School, where he played trumpet in the marching band. Gary received an associate degree at Kirkwood Community College. On September 11, 1982 Gary married Caroline Bell in Iowa City.

Gary loved spending time gardening, playing computer games, especially Everquest, and listening to Czech music. In 1993 Gary and Caroline moved to West Branch and became members of St. Bernadette’s Church.

Gary had retired as office manager at Mulford Plumbing following 46 years of service.

Gary is survived by his wife, Caroline; his brothers, Lenny Zeman of Cedar Falls and Kurt (Barbara) Zeman of Rockford, IL; nieces and nephew, Katherine Zeman (Bradley) Bach, Janet Zeman, Laura Zeman, Andrew (Libby) Zeman, and Krista Zeman; great nephew and nieces, Otto, Chelsea, and Camryn.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Marcene, and sister-in-law, Betty Zeman.
