Gregg Alan Hoogerwerf, 47, of 409 Upland Drive died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

A Memorial Mass will be held Sunday, July 31, 2005 at 1pm at St. Thomas More Church. Friends may park on the east side of Riverside Drive. A reception for family and friends to celebrate Gregg’s life will be held Sunday from 3 to 6pm at Fairview Golf Course. Gregg donated his body to scientific research. Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or The University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Gregg was born April 8, 1958 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the son of Thomas and LouRae Colman Hoogerwerf.

Gregg was a 1976 graduate of City High School and had attended the University of Iowa.
He was a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston and was a talented and creative commercial graphic photographer. Gregg owned and operated Digigigs Designs.

Gregg loved the outdoors, especially working in his vast perennial garden, hunting, snow skiing and taking fishing trips to Minnesota. He liked to golf, play cards, listen to music and play his guitar. Gregg will be missed by his family and the many friends with whom he enjoyed spending time.

Gregg is survived by the love his life, Judy Knobbe; his step children,
Quinn Knobbe at home, Kelly and A.J. Grasso of Iowa City; a step granddaughter, Baylee Eider; his parents, Tom and LouRae Hoogerwerf of Iowa City; his brother Michael (Pamela) Hoogerwerf of Iowa City and their children Whitney and Trenton; his sister, Cheryl (Robert) Reardon of Iowa City and their children Conor and Sean;
his in-laws, Fran (Robert) Martin of Sun Lake, Arizona and Robert (Jodi) Martin of Fort Collins, Colorado; his aunts and uncles, Richard (Sheri) Colman and James(Betty) Hoogerwerf, both of Rock Island, Ronald (Charlotte) Colman Light of Davenport,
Gerald and Kathi Colman of Coal Valley, Kenneth (Patricia) Colman Belvel of Bettendorf, Dennis (Pamela) Colman McCullough of Muscatine, Richard (Elaine) Hoogerwerf of Farmington Hill, Michigan; and numerous cousins.
