Roger Dale Garrett, 68, of Coralville, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at his home of cancer.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 30th at 10:00 am at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville.
Friends may call Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill. Graveside services with military rites are scheduled for 2:30 pm Saturday at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.

Roger was born November 22, 1936 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Cecil & Alta (Avis) Garrett. He lived in Eddyville, Iowa and attended Eddyville Elementary School. Roger attended high school in Bussey, Iowa and Central College in Pella, Iowa. He spent three years in the Army and earned and an expert marksmanship and good conduct medal. He was honorably discharged.

Roger married Leah Marsh of Bussey in 1956. He moved to Coralville in 1964 and worked at Mercy Hospital for 30 years. He was an associate administrator at Mercy and vice-president of Mercy Services. Roger was a member of the Elks Club and Mason Lodge.

Roger is survived by his former wife, Leah, three sons, Randy and Doug of Coralville, Russ of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Kelly and Chase; and ten nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, MaryJo, a niece, a nephew, and several aunts and uncles.
