Mrs. Margaret C. Winston, 86, of 930 South Dubuque Street died at an Iowa City nursing home Sunday after a long illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Penny officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Mrs. Winston was born Nov. 15, 1881 in Woodruff, S.C., to Edmund and Della Alexander Woodruff. She came to Iowa City in 1913 and was a housekeeper for a number of Iowa City families. She was married to Fred Winston in 1916 at Marion and was a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Iowa City.

Surviving is a brother, William F. of Iowa City, and a grand-niece, Miss Inez Foster of Iowa City.

Preceding her in death were her husband and a son.
