DEATH TAKES MRS. WARE, 42
Funeral Service Will Be Held Thursday at 2 p.m.Mrs. Lutie Alma Ware, 42, Negress wife of John William Ware, died at a local hospital at 7 o’clock Monday night following a heart attack she suffered a few hours before her death.
She was born in Moberly, Mo, July 8, 1897, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Burris of Danville, Ill. She was married to Mr. Ware in 1919.
Mrs. Ware was a member of the Bethel A. M. E. church and was vice-president of the missionary society of the church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, John R. Franklin of Oskaloosa, Paul J Ware, Sylas W. Ware, George J. Ware, all at home; six daughters, Miss Cora Franklin of Prairie View, Texas, Martha A. Ware, Mary L. Ware, Ruby J. Ware, Margrete E. Ware and Lola P. Ware, all at home; one brother, Thomas Burris of Memphis, Tenn., and an aunt, Clara Webb of Council Bluffs.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the McGovern funeral home in charge of the Rev A. R. Parks. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. (Source: Iowa City Press-Citizen (Iowa City, Iowa) 14 Nov 1939, Tues pg. 9)
