John Orville Edwards, 71, of Maquoketa died Wednesday, January 26, 2022 of COVID related complications.

A Memorial to celebrate John’s life will be held at a later date in Maquoketa. The time and date has not yet been determined. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Maquoketa American Legion, PO Box 757, 511 S. Main St. Maquoketa, IA 52060

John was born January 13, 1951 in Prairie du Chien, WI, the son of Carlisle and Arlene Edwards. He was a longtime resident of Maquoketa and proudly served in both the US Army for 3 years and the US Marines for 14 years. John did three tours during the Vietnam War.

John was an expert fisherman and loved to camp. Most important to John was his children. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

John is survived by his four children, Nicole (Matthew) Conner of Jacksonville, FL, Ben Edwards of Seattle, WA, Paul Edwards of Maquoketa, and Crystal (Charles) Karr of Kearney, MO; his brothers, Mark (Debra) Edwards of Maquoketa and Richard (Lori) Edwards of Moline, IL; three grandchildren, Katalena, Johnathan, and Elliott; his sister-in-law, Edna Edwards; his favorite niece, Julia Edwards and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronald and Gerald.
