Dennis “DJ” Jennings, 77, of Riverside, passed away on January 25, 2022 at his residence.
An informal gathering open house will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville.
DJ was born on August 18, 1944 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Earl and Elaine (Howard) Jennings. Following graduation from high school, DJ proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves.
On March 16, 1968, DJ married Pamela Hansen and to this union, three daughters were born. Born a natural caretaker, DJ was the most loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed watching his girls and grandkids grow up. He never missed a show, recital or sporting event they were involved with.
DJ worked at Proctor and Gamble for over 35 years in the shipping department. Fortunately, he was able to retire at an early age which would allow him the time to enjoy all of his favorite hobbies and activities. He was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed time with friends, traveling and attending long-standing Monday night dinner dates with Pam. DJ was a mentor to many and a friend to all.
DJ is survived by his loving wife, Pam; daughters: Kim (Trey) Martin and Mollie (Kyle) Kolb; grandchildren: Kiah, Willa and Briar Martin, Kingston and Amity Lane and Landon and Carter Kolb; sisters: Diane (Richard) Swanson and Suellen (Frank) Love and his sister-in-law, Margie Chung as well as several other nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Lynne Jennings and his brother, Jaycee Chung.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Heartland in Iowa City and online condolences may be shared at www.lensingfuneral.com
