Sandra Thomas, 74, of Riverside (formerly of Lone Tree), passed away on December 17, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Sandra was born on February 28, 1947 in Iowa City to Archie and Shirley (Hills) Buline.
After graduating from Lone Tree High School, Sandra worked at Ken’s where she met Darryl Thomas. The couple married on May 28, 1967 in Iowa City and to this union, three children were born.
After working at Ken’s, Sandra then went on to work at Hills Bank before becoming a cook at the Elm Tree Inn while her kids were in school. She then worked at ACT until her retirement in 2011.
Sandra enjoyed going to the casino, watching birds and wildlife, bowling, movies, and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her husband of 54 years, family and grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Darryl; her mother, Shirley Buline; children: Todd (Melissa) Thomas and Wynnette (Tony) Slaymaker; grandchildren: Caleb and Jarron Thomas and Eli and Stella Slaymaker; sisters: Kathy Buline and Patty (Ken) DeGood as well as her brother, Lyle (Linda) Buline and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Archie; her daughter, Lynnel Thomas and her niece, Melinda Tripses.
A private family graveside service will be held. Memorials may be made to Darryl Thomas and online condolences may be shared at www.lensingfuneral.com
