Deborah Marie Smith, 69, died Monday, November 15, 2021 following a brief illness.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, IA with Brother David Hayward officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to Iowa Public Television c/o PO Box 167, Iowa City, IA 52244

Deborah was born October 24, 1952 in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Amos and Dolores (Williams) Booth. On June 17, 1989 Deborah married Bradley Smith at Kent Park, near Oxford.

Deborah was a nursing assistant at the VAMC for 28 years, retiring in 2004. She and Brad lived in Iowa City for many years. In 2020 Deborah moved to Brown Deer Place in Coralville to be near her mother.

Deborah was a gentle, caring soul, who lived simply. She was more concerned about others than herself. Family was most important to her. She always called family and friends and would say, “I’m just checking in”. Deborah enjoyed reading, traveling, and watching Iowa Public Television.

Deborah is survived by her mother, Dolores Booth of Coralville; her siblings, Margaret Booth, Carl Booth, Robert Booth, Joel (Diana) Booth; her step-children, Greg Smith, Elizabeth (John) Bruder, Roberta Bray; step-grandchildren, Kari and Kimberly Bray; and two step great-grandchildren; and dear friends, Peggy Jedlicka and Mary Hagen.

Deborah was preceded in death by her husband, her father, and her sister, Becky Wilson.
