Evelyn F. (Mingo) Hoffey, 90, of Iowa City, died Friday June 17, 2005 at Iowa City Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 22, 11:00am at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave. There will be a gathering time from 10:00-11:00am Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Paul Akin will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials can be made in Evelyn’s name to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City 52240.

Evelyn was born on January 31, 1915 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to George and Eliza (Massingale) Mingo. She grew up in Cedar Rapids until she married William “Bill” Hoffey on March 19, 1932 in St. Paul, MN. Bill passed away March 17, 2003.

Evelyn worked for Iowa/Illinois Gas & Electric for 23 years. She retired in 1975. She was very active in Craft Guild of Iowa City, enjoyed traveling and playing the piano.

Evelyn is survived by two sons; Paul Hoffey (Delsie) of Iowa City, Dr. Donald Hoffey (Sally) of Sedona, AZ, three daughters-in-law; Janet Hoffey, Barbara Helmer, Nadine Hoffey, and a half sister, Madonna Harms, 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons; Richard and Jerry, four brothers; Henry, Paul, Raymer, Clayton, five sisters; Marjorie, Gladys, Helen, Lulu, and Irene.
