Viola Louise (Blum) Sexton, 83, of rural Iowa City began her new life with her Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 10:00AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2301 Court Street, Iowa City, with the Reverend Timothy Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8:00 PM Friday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

Viola was born March 3, 1922 in Wellman, IA, the daughter of William and Louise (Ossman) Blum. She married Louis Sexton on August 16th, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Chapel in Iowa City. Louis passed away on January 15, 2005.

Viola was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Iowa City, the LWML of Our Redeemer, she taught Sunday school for many years and was part of the quilt-making group at the church. She enjoyed working in her garden, yard and loved spending time with her grand children and great-grandchildren.

Viola is survived by her five sons: Jerry Louis (Patricia) Sexton, Richard Jacob (Trisha) Sexton, Allan Andrew (Catherine) Sexton all of Lone Tree, Tommy Lee (Leanne) Sexton of Riverside, IA, and Brian James (Theresa) Sexton of Iowa City; sixteen grandchildren, Russell, Angela, Sheila, Samantha, Stacey, Jamie, Christa, Jacob, Jennifer, Corisa, Jason, Shelbi, Colin, Nickolas, Alex and Lacey; twelve great-grandchildren, Gabe, Isabella, Garrett, Drake, Gregory, Morgan, Andrew, Devyn, Sydney, Liam, Haelen, Erica; four sisters: Lillian Graf of Muscatine, IA, Mae Martin (Earl) of Columbus Junction, IA, Gayle Rarick of Corwith, IA, Jeannette Sexton (Clayton) of Riverside, IA, and a brother James Blum (Pattie) of Washington, IA.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers: Clarence, Donald, and Marion Blum.
