Geo. T. Borland
George Tupper Borland, a member of a pioneer family of Johnson County, was born in the state of New York, May 27, 1853, and died in St. Paul, Minnesota, October 15, 1918. His parents were Mr. & Mrs. John Borland who came to the western country with their three sons and four daughters when their son, George, was six years old.The Borland family were among the leading citizens in the early history of the city and county. One of the three sons, Charles, was a member of the faculty of the State University of Iowa.
Mr. Borland married Miss Sara Smith in 1880. The widow and one son, John J. survive. Norval Elam, an adopted son, also survives. Of his brothers and sisters, only Mrs. Katharine Borland Hayes, of Minneapolis now remains.
For many years, Mr. Borland has been a leading member of the Elks Club, and this organization conducted the services at the funeral. The many friends of this well know citizen regret to learn of his death.
