CHARLES ANTHONY DIED NEAR TIFFIN
Influenza followed by pneumonia claimed Charles Philo Anthony, a young, robust farmer near Tiffin, brief mention of which was made in The Citizen at the time. The head of a family, a bright cheerful young man in the prime of life, a lifelong member of the church and a most useful citizen, makes the loss doubly great to the community as well as to his little family.Life at its best is uncertain. Today we are strong and vigorous, tomorrow we are gathered to our fathers. Young men in the full strength of their manhood know not whether they will be allowed to finish their tasks, the hopes of years may be vanished in an instant.
Thus it was with this promising young man, born only thirty years ago last March the 8th. He was just beginning to realize the dreams of his youth, his earlier toil was just beginning to bear fruit when the summons came and without a complaint he said good-bye to his dear ones a departed to wait for them in the world where there is no sorrow.
Charlie was born and raised on the Anthony homestead south of Tiffin. Early in his life he united with the Methodist church and has been one of its faithful members since. October 5, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Sentman. One little girl came to bless their home. Little Ruth is now four years old.
Charlie was of a genial sunny disposition. Always greeting his friends, of whom he had many, with a smile. He will be much missed among the folks with whom he associated. Especially will the young folks miss him for they always found a welcome at his home and made it the place of many happy gatherings. He died Tuesday, October 15. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Krenmyre at the home. The body was laid to rest in the Tiffin cemetery.
