Edith F. Brysch, 89, of 21 North Johnson Street in Iowa City, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from complications of pneumonia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with Reverend Ken Kuntz officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville. A parish wake service will be held at 6:30pm Friday and a rosary at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa City Catholic Community Foundation.

Edith was born January 7, 1916 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph & Lottie (Miller) Rummelhart. She married Roy “Sig” Brysch November 26, 1947 at St. Mary’s Church in Iowa City. Edith was a housekeeping supervisor with the University of Iowa for 45 years, retiring in 1981. She lived in Iowa City from 1916 – 1918, then moved to Hazelton, living there from 1918 to 1933. Edith graduated from Hazelton High School in 1933, then moved back to Iowa City that same year.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar & Rosary Society,
Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters. Edith was a charter member of the Iowa City Vicariate NAIM Club, Iowa City Women of the Moose and was a volunteer at the Crisis Center since 1975.

Survivors include her sisters, Loretta Kantor, Gertrude Miller and Kathryn Keeley all of Iowa City,
a sister in law, Freida Rummelhart of Iowa City, and numerous nieces & nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Leo, John & George Rummelhart and a sister, Matilda “Tillie” Shrader.
