Martin Conrad, 73, of Bon Aire Mobile Home Park died Thursday, Dec. 8, 1994, at his home after a long illness.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Harry Linnenbrink will officiate. In-unrnment will be at a later date in Rose Garden Columbarium, Memory Gardens Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated. Family will greet friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
Mr. Conrad was born April 29, 1921, in Eldon to David and Monica (Dooley) Conrad. He graduated from Eldon High School in 1939. He was in the 19th Fighter Squadron of the 7th Army Air Force and achieved the rank of corporal. He was on active duty at Saipan and Okinawa.
He married Orvetta Lampe June 19, 1950, in Eldon. He was a brakeman for the Rock Island Railroad for 38 years. He and his wife lived in Excelsior Springs, Mo., for 18 years, and they returned to Eldon until his retirement. They moved to Iowa City in 1980. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Monte of Iowa City; two daughters, Katherine of Iowa City and Peggy and her husband, Tom Purdue of Fond du Lac, Wis.; one brother, James of Eldon; one sister, Nellie McFadden of Beltsville, Md.; and two grandchildren.
His parents, four brothers, and two sisters died earlier.
