Maude Wilhelmina Jahncke, 70, of 196 22nd Ave. SW, died of cancer Monday, July 24, 1995, in her home. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, People Unitarian Church. Her body was donated to the University of Iowa School of Medicine. Arrangements are with Peterseim Funeral Service, Kalona.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Gene a brother, A. "Yon" Schoenmaker of Iowa City; a sister Betty Coe of Arlington, Va.; two sons, John H. Cummings of El Paso, Texas, and Robert A. Cummings of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Margaret A. Kramer of Maryville, Mo., and Mary Elisabeth Bender of Burnsville, Minn., two stepdaughters, Claudia Wadell and Lisa Jahncke of Miami; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three neices; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian and Mary Schoenmaker.
Born Nov. 16, 1924, in Camden NJ., Maude was head librarian at Kirkwood Community College for 20+ years. She served on numerous boards and committees, including Public Library Board, Linn County Historical Society and Linn County Democrats. She was a member of Peoples Church. Maude loved her work, her friends and her family.
People wishing to donate to a memorial fund may consider a contribution to St. Luke's Hospice Program or People's Church Van Vechten Guild.
