2 December 1920 - West Branch Times

Unusually sad is the death of Mrs. Jacob F. (Catherine Wren) Wieder, which occurred at a local hospital, Saturday night at ten.

A baby girl came to her during the day; but the child's life was soon claimed by Death, and a comparatively few hours later, the mother was called Beyond.

Mrs. Wieder was born March 8, 1879, and was thus in her forty-second year. Surviving are her husband and two sons, Calvin Lee and Donald Walter. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wren, also survive.

Likewise mourning are three brothers and three sisters, Clarence, Iowa City; Albert, Fort Dodge; and Edward, Iowa City; and Mesdames H. E. Klise, Des Moines; and R. J. Nicholson of Boone; and Miss Jennie Wren of Des Moines.

The funeral was held this afternoon at 2:00 from her late home, 336 So. Dodge street. Rev. C. Rollin Sherck officiated.

Mrs. Wieder was a loving wife and mother; a loyal English Lutheran, and equally loyal W.R.C. member; and was active in the numerous fields of endeavor in both organizations.

As a home-builder and home-lover, she was ideal, and her own dear ones will never be consoled for the loss of this splendid wife, mother, daughter and sister. --Iowa City Press-Citizen, Monday, Nov. 29th.
