Noah Yoder Dies in West
County Pioneer Passes Away Before Son Reaches San Diego

From faroff San Diego comes a telegram, telling of the death of a fine pioneer of Johnson County, Mr. Noah Yoder, who passed away there before his son, Dr. Ed Yoder, who had gone to the Coast to accompany home his father, could reach the city.
The estimable Iowan went to San Diego, to spend the winter, having left here last November, for the sake of his frail health. He was preparing to come back to Iowa City, when his fatal attack came. Hence Dr. Yoder was en route to the Golden Gate, not knowing his father's nearness to unexpected death. Mr. Yoder was 68.
The remains will be brought here for interment, probably arriving at the weekend or Sunday.
Surviving are the widow, two sons, Dr. Ed. Yoder, Iowa City; and Omar Yoder, on the old homestead, in Sharon Township; and three brothers - Henry, of Washington township; Mahlon T., of Washington township; and Lewis, of Nevada.
Mr. Yoder was born in Maryland, and came to Johnson County as a child. He grew to manhood on the old farm of his parents, and ultimately became a prominent and successful farmer himself. He retired about 12 years ago, to make his home thereafter in Iowa City.
Serving in Sharon, during his busy days, as a township officer, he stood high in the community, publicly; and , as a private citizen, was esteemed and admired by all. In Iowa City and throughout the county, his death will cause much sorrow.
