Lee Schwimley dies at home in Kalona
KALONA - Lee W. Schwimley, 87, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at Pleasantview Home in Kalona where he had been a resident for three years.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Sharon Center United Methodist Church of which he was an active member, with Rev. Adarin Schoenmaker in charge. Burial will be in the cemetery there.
Mr. Schwimley was born in Johnson County Jan. 5, 1891, a son of Phillip and Annie Ressler Schwimley. He farmed in the Sharon Center area until his retirement. He was a long time member of Farm Bureau and active with 4-H and other youth groups.
He married Nora William in 1916 and she died in 1953. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Marjorie) Miller of rural Iowa City; one son, Gerald of Schaumberg, Ill.; 7 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Winborn of Iowa City. One sister also preceded him in death.
A memorial has been started for either the Pleasantview Home or Sharon Center United Methodist Church.
