Nadine Larson, 98

Nadine Townsend Larson, 98, of Iowa City, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 30, 2004 surrounded by family.
Nadine was born April 13, 1906 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the only child of Milton and Nadine (West) Townsend. She attended Castilleja school for girls and San Jose State University.
She married Carroll Bernard Larson on November 17, 1934 in Reno, Nevada. They moved to Iowa City, from Boston, in 1950 when Carroll became Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at The University of Iowa Hospital.
Nadine belonged to Trinity Episcopal Church and served many years as a member of the Alter Guild. She was a 50 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood (a charter member of Chapter KQ) and a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America. She also volunteered at the Old Capitol Museum gift shop and at Plum Grove historic site, and was a member of Hiking Club, the 19th Century Club, the Newcomers Club, and EOS. She was a member of Music Study Club and an accomplished pianist.
Nadine is survived by her four children John (Marty) Larson of Tallahassee, Florida, Carroll "Jeep" (Emily) Larson of Port Angeles, Washington, Jeff (Michelle) Larson of Iowa City, and Lori Larson of Stoughton, WI. Nadine is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Eric Larson, Jennifer Birkmeier, Jill Mordhorst, Sam Larson, Christina "Callie" Larson, and Jessica "Bella" Larson; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Carroll.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to The Carroll B. Larson Endowed Chair Fund at the University of Iowa Foundation.
