Edward J. Mougin, 91, died peacefully Saturday, October 22nd, at Mercy Hospice surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Tuesday, October 25th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City with Father Steven Witt officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7PM. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Cosgrove. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospital Foundation for Mercy Hospice or to St. Mary’s Church.

Ed was born September 10, 1925 in Hills, the son of Raphael and Doliena Brennan Mougin. He served in US Army 7th Inf. Division during the Korean War. On October 20, 1952 Ed married Jean Marie Lenz at St. Mary’s Church in Iowa City.

Ed farmed in the Cosgrove area for many years. He had a strong work ethic and had also been employed with the Johnson County Secondary Roads Dept. and Stutsman’s in Hills.

His memberships include St. Mary’s Church, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge.

Ed liked to garden, play cards with friends and spend time with family. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus at the Holidays.

He is survived by his four children, Carole Mougin of Des Moines, Jim Mougin of Oxford, Rick (Melanie) Mougin of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Dan (Julie) of Oxford; six grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, Austin, Nathan, Lexi and Tony; two great grandchildren, Kasen and Emmilyn; his siblings, Frank (Vivian) Mougin of Oxford, Charles ( Sandy) Mougin of Riverside, Darlene Kabela of West Branch, Mary Ann Walters of Iowa City and Juanita (Harold) Hunter of Columbus Junction; sister-in-law, Leona Mougin of Iowa City numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his grandson Marco, his brother Victor and brother-in-laws, Frank and Whitey.
