Ralph L. Seagren, 76, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 25, 2016, following many years of living with renal disease, cancer, and arthritis.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Following the service there will be a time of Fellowship at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2050 12th Ave., Coralville, IA. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Monday, August 1, 2016 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Oakland Cemetery, Janesville, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice, Tabernacle Baptist Church, or The Ralph Seagren Memorial Fund for his granddaughters’ education.

Ralph was born on April 1, 1940 in Emmetsburg, IA, the son of Luvern and Alene (Trow) Seagren. He learned the grocery business from his dad’s store, car mechanics from Uncle Eddie, and T.V. electronics repair from Uncle Lloyd. Ralph graduated from Emmetsburg High and Chicago’s DeVry Institute. He ran his own T.V. Shop in Emmetsburg, until serving in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964. He was a television technician for Woodburn Electronics for 34 years, Iowa City T.V. for 2 ½ years and Hy-Vee First Avenue before retiring in February of 2016.
Ralph was united in marriage to Jane Simpson on July 30, 1977 in Iowa City. He served faithfully for many years at Bethany Baptist Church, Iowa City Bible Fellowship and Tabernacle Baptist Church. Ralph was a man of solid faith and uncommon courage. He was a family man with a gentle quiet spirit. Ralph was a hard worker and never complained or raised his voice.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Laura Lynn Seagren of North Liberty; two granddaughters, Dominique, and Carver Seagren; brother, Alan (Kay) Seagren of Iowa City; special grandson, Xavier and his mother, Tegan Thompson of Iowa City; special cousin, Vivian Creswell of Omaha, NE; nieces and nephews, Kim and Scott and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert.
