Marco Luis Mougin, 11, went to dance freely in Heaven in the early morning of March 22, 2016.

Marco was an amazing young man who went though many struggles in his life but he always had a smile on his face and brought a smile to the faces of everyone around him. Marco loved listening to music and dancing, but what he loved most was spending time with his family and friends. Marco also loved school and spending time with his friends at the Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDD). Marco was recently showcased on the poster for Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month at the CDD. Marco loved smiling for pictures, and taking “selfies” with those he loved. Marco’s smile was contagious and his giggles were uplifting. Marco was also a big flirt, loving every female in sight. He will be deeply missed by all of those who had the honor of knowing him.

Marco is survived by his mother, Julie Mougin, sisters Heather (Derek) Mougin, Ashley (Matthew) Wirth, Lexi Mougin and his brothers Austin (Jadyn) Mougin, Nathan Mougin, and Tony Mougin. Marco was also the proud uncle of Kasen Dawson and Emmilyn Wirth. He had two special friends, Hank and Bit-Bit. He is also survived by several extended family members.

A special thanks to Laura Bohnenkamp and Katie Laubscher from the CDD for all of the love and care they have given Marco over the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday at 10:30 am at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Oakhill Cemetery in Tiffin. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Marco L. Mougin Memorial Fund.
