Mary Margaret Jacobsen Sewall, 87, of Iowa City, IA died Monday, August 17, 2015 at Crestview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in West Branch, IA. Per her request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pathways Adult Day Health Center, Iowa City, IA.

Mary was born January 15, 1928 in Walnut, IA, the daughter of Del and Helen (Beavers) Jacobsen. She was a graduate of Walnut High School, University of Iowa College of Nursing, and a pediatrics specialty program at the University of Colorado. On February 27, 1954 she married Michael Sewall in Iowa City; he preceded her in death on July, 29, 2011.

Mary worked as a Registered Nurse at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in pediatrics, and directed its ante-partum program for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and P.E.O. International.

Mary is survived by her children, Peg Fitzpatrick of Philadelphia, PA; Patrick (Laura) Sewall of Boise, ID; Tom (Carol) Sewall of Agawam, MA; and Theresa (Todd) Hollander of New Orleans, LA; eight grandchildren, Matt, Leigh, Kathleen, Jessica, Greg, Steven (Moriah), Spencer, and Alex; sister Virginia "Ginger" (Jim) North of Des Moines, IA.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Delpha Keller.
