Priscilla A. Whitcomb Walker, 80, of Iowa City, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Townsley officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.

Born September 23, 1934, the daughter of Wesley W. and Olive E. (Douglas) Whitcomb; Priscilla grew up in Chester, Vermont and graduated from Chester High School. She later graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, Vermont and Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts. She married Arthur “Art” Walker, II on August 24, 1957 in Chester, Vermont. The couple moved to Iowa City in 1958, where Priscilla worked as an assistant dietician at the University of Iowa Memorial Union.

Priscilla was a long time member of the First Congregational Church in Iowa City. She enjoyed traveling with her family, reading, and displayed her talents in a variety of crafts, including: knitting, basket weaving, sewing, and so much more. She loved collecting pelicans, miniature oil lamps, and baskets. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and adored her great-granddaughters.

In recent years, Priscilla appreciated time spent with her son attending arts and crafts shows and taking scenic drives. As many do — she preferred to enjoy winters in Florida and Arizona.

Survivors include her children: Brenda (Tom) Mehlert of Phoenix, Kendra (Ron) Lown of Walford, and Arthur Walker, III of Iowa City; grandchildren: Brad (Courtney) Lown, Breanne Lown, and Isabelle (Enrique) Lopez; two great-grandchildren, Noelle Lown and Frances Lopez; a sister, Phyllis Laurin of North Muskegon, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art, in 2000; a son at childbirth; one sister and two infant brothers.

Memorials may be directed to the Priscilla Walker Memorial Fund.
