Jean Clare Kratz, 86, of Coralville passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be at the church from 4:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be held at a later date in Antigo, Wisconsin.

Jean was born in Antigo, Wisconsin on April 30, 1928, the daughter of Royden and Harriet (Utnehmer) Murphy. She grew up and was raised in Antigo and spent most of her professional life as a teacher. Jean married Orville Kratz on July 7, 1951 in Antigo. Jean was very devoted to her family and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her three sons: Michael (Deborah) Kratz, Peter (Norine) Kratz, and John (Jacqueline Quade) Kratz; a brother, Lawrence (Molly) Murphy; sister-in-law, Ann Marie Murphy; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Thomas Murphy and Jerry Murphy; a sister, Delores Paris; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth.
