Dale E. Ressler age 86 of Iowa City died on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial with military rites will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Iowa City. Memorial donations may be given to, First United Methodist Church in Iowa City or to the Iowa City Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be sent to his family at www.gayandciha.com.
Dale Emmett Ressler was born on August 9, 1917 in Sharon Center, Iowa the son of Arthur A. and Kate Lackender Ressler. He graduated from Sharon Center High School and served in the United States Army during WWII. On June 15, 1940 he married Hazel Adams in Iowa City. Dale worked for Capital Propane in Iowa City. During his time at Capital Propane he also worked nights and weekends at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. After his retirement from Capital Propane he worked full time at the fairgrounds, retiring in 1991. He was currently working at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City as a Parking Ramp attendant. Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City, Old Capital Kiwanis and the Johnson County Agricultural Association.
His family includes his wife, Hazel of 63 years, a son, Dave Ressler of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Mildred Sindt of Fort Dodge, one niece Gayle Berggren of Vermont, two nephews, Kay and wife Gloria Ressler and Gene and wife Charlotte Ressler all of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold and one brother in law Herbert. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Dale’s family and his services.
