Raymond A. Meyer, 67, formerly of Lone Tree, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at University of Iowa Healthcare in Iowa City complications of pneumonia and Pick’s Disease.

Services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree with Pastor Tim Malek officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church in Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree, Lone Tree First Responders or Neurological Research at University of Iowa Healthcare.

Ray was born February 6, 1936 in Iowa City, the son of August & Alta (Harned) Meyer. He graduated from Lone Tree High School. He married Kay Raim on October 3, 1964 in Iowa City. The couple later divorced. Ray worked for eleven years at Procter & Gamble in Iowa City in staging & security. He then worked as a salesman for Henderson Chevrolet in Muscatine. Ray later managed Max Chown Appliances in West Liberty for nine years. Most recently, he worked as a bid assistant and consultant for auctions in the eastern Iowa area. He was an expert in antiques & glassware.

A lifelong resident of Lone Tree, Ray was a member of the Lone Tree Masonic Lodge and had served on the Lone Tree City Council.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Robert Carpenter & his wife Sherry of Coralville:
Larry Carpenter of Lone Tree; Dave Meyer & his wife Dixie of Lone Tree; Bill Meyer of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; Mary Schneider & her husband Sam of West Liberty; Beverly Megan & her husband Dave of Dacula, Georgia; Joyce Terhune of Lone Tree and Janette Ulin & her husband Albert of Lone Tree and many great nieces & nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Dorothy & Fern, two brothers, Harold & Kenneth and two nieces, Pamela Guyer & Linda Carpenter.
